No More Rental Applications!
Good Tenants Services is making it easier for renters to find apartments, and for landlords to find qualified renters.
This company has found a niche service within the thirty-four-billion-dollar PropTech market. Short for property technology, this market encompasses digital solutions and software designed to streamline and modernize the real-estate industry.
While most platforms focus on properties, Good Tenants Services focuses on the renters themselves. Perhaps that’s why this company refers to its platform as a first-of-its-kind “TenantTech.”
This is a huge opportunity. Approximately forty-four million American households rent. And renters spend around $485 billion a year on rent.
Right now, the rental market is stacked against tenants. The application process for a new apartment is outdated, costly, and inefficient. Renters struggle with application fees, redundant application processes, and a lack of communication with respect to whether they are accepted.
Landlords struggle in the current landscape, too. The lengthy application process means more time that properties sit vacant. And the process often discourages otherwise qualified tenants, leaving landlords with less than desirable options to choose from.
Many Millennials and Gen Zers are priced out of buying a home, meaning renting is their only option. And among the seventy-seven million Baby Boomers on track to retire soon, many are selling their homes and transitioning into rentals. In short, the need for a service like Good Tenants Services is critical. Here’s how it works:
Using Good Tenants, renters can create tenant profiles, which they can reuse to apply for multiple rentals without having to re-input the same information or pay rising application fees.
Landlords, meanwhile, can access Good Tenants to find qualified, pre-screened prospective tenants. They can then use the platform to quickly accept a tenant and get their property filled.
In addition to streamlining the application process, Good Tenants offers expert guidance to renters, including tips on how to improve their rental applications and increase their chances of being accepted. Agents and property managers can also refer tenants and earn commissions for doing so.
Good Tenants has multiple revenue streams, including a one-time application fee, subscription services, a credit-subscription service, referral and training fees, and commission shares.
The company is led by CEO Jessie Hunter, a former Staff Sargent in the U.S. Marine Corps who has been a licensed real-estate broker in California and Georgia for the past twenty-one years. From 2008 to 2012, Hunter developed the Good Tenants business idea before officially launching the company in 2020. In 2023 and 2024, he helped develop a prototype of the Good Tenants app and launched a beta version.
The company is now raising capital to complete beta testing and finalize the platform for nationwide launch.
